Water Buffaloes

Sarj Bloom sent these photos of water buffaloes:

Ever notice that it seemed to be little boys who cared for the water buffaloes? This is one of my favorite photos. I think it's because of the boy's warm and genuine smile.

In the second picture, the boy seems to be having a problem getting the buffalo out of the water. I think this may have been a burial place.

Hey Sarj,

You did go help the boy get the buffalo out of the water after you took the second picture, didn't you?

FYI,

The boy (cowherd) and his buffalo is a recurring theme in Chinese art and porcelain. I have seen many pieces from the 19th and early 20th century with themes matching your photos, but usually with the boy riding the buffalo. You've captured that feeling here.
