Ambassador Hotel - The Early Years

Les sent me several photos of the Ambassador Hotel that he took somewhere around 1962-1964, not long after it first opened.

Any pictures of the Empress Hotel? It was a small hotel across the street and down a bit from the President Hotel.

The Ambassador Hotel opened for business in 1964. I remember seeing the building go up, as I was frequently passing by the site on my message courier runs to/from the American Embassy and MAAG Headquarters. I also note that the first photo shows a sign for New York Bar on the left side. New York Bar was a small, nice place to hangout in the "good old days."

Why does the weather always seems so nice in these photos?

The pool and kids pool are still there on google maps.
