The Ambassador Hotel opened for business in 1964. I remember seeing the building go up, as I was frequently passing by the site on my message courier runs to/from the American Embassy and MAAG Headquarters. I also note that the first photo shows a sign for New York Bar on the left side. New York Bar was a small, nice place to hangout in the "good old days."
"Added Entry," I see there is an Empress Hotel in the same general area today, but I don't know if it's the same one you're referring to. Here's a link:

Any pictures of the Empress Hotel? It was a small hotel across the street and down a bit from the President Hotel.

Why does the weather always seems so nice in these photos?
The pool and kids pool are still there on google maps.
