***UPDATE***
Kent Mathieu, over at the Taipei Air Station blog, reminded me that he recently posted an article about a book called "Dragon Hotel." The book was published in 1969 and it talks about the same place that Sarj's Christmas card came from.

Sarj provided these great images:
Here's a Christmas card I saved from the Dragon Hotel. Manager Johnny Huang was a friend of mine.

It's ironic, but when I read this posting I had just finished reading "Dragon Hotel" by John Ball for the umpteenth time. I have a first edition I have had for nearly 40 years. I drag it down off the shelf every once in a while, and reminisce about old Taiwan.

Is the story about this Hotel ? Let me know, maybe I'll read it.
I don't know if the book is about the actual Dragon Hotel, but this is a quote from the author's notes:
"This book is not a novel. What you will read in the following pages is real and happened just as it is set down here.
This is an account of a visit to free China, but it is not a travelogue. To me it is an adventure story; if you think otherwise, then it's a safe bet that your don't know the Dragon Hotel. If perhaps you've missed this enlightening experience, the best I can do is to record the facts--you take it from there."
