I've received a number of photos from Les Duffin recently and I want to share as many of them as possible.
The images shown below, according to Les, were shots that he took of Hsimending and the street between the Hilton Hotel and the railroad station. He thinks they were taken sometime between 1975 and 1978, probably closer to the latter date, but they’re not labeled and he just doesn't remember much about them.

Interestingly enough, the Hilton Hotel is now called Csaeser Park (spelling).
Many of us will still refer to the landmark as Hilton.

The photos were most likely taken in 1977, according to the billboards of the movie theaters in the photos. Please note "The Spy Who Loved Me", "The Adventures of Emperor Chien Lung", etc. in the sixth photo.
Hsiminding looks different now.
(I graduated from a high school nearby there.)
And I asked my mom what does Taipei look like in 1970's. But she can't recall everything, these old photos give me the chance to understand Taipei.
Your blog is really good!
Definitely in the year 1977. There's a poster of the film "The Domino Principle", which came out in 1977. Actually, it should be no earlier than the March of 1977; since the movie had not been released by then.
I am a student in Taiwan, and I am thrilled to know that such precious pictures were being posted and remembered.
