I'd just like to add that none of the Chinese military people I saw around USTDC looked anything like the two standing here. I guess maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Eisenhower Visit Revisited
I posted some photos a few days ago of President Eisenhower's 1960 visit to Taiwan. Stev Pitchford just found this one that was also taken during that visit. Stev didn't take this photo, but he was part of the pool of photographers who were assembled for the event.
I'd just like to add that none of the Chinese military people I saw around USTDC looked anything like the two standing here. I guess maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Maybe you can find some pictures with soldiers and civilians of Matsu, the other island near mainland China, showing their welcoming.
I served the army in Matsu.
