I noticed today that someone on eBay is selling this menu from the Grand Hotel, probably from sometime in the 1960s.
I've wondered if any of the readers here have ever spent a night in the place. If so, how about sharing your experiences with us? At one time, this was the place to stay if you could afford it, though I doubt that it stands out very much in today's Taipei.
I never stayed there, but I did eat in the dining room a few times in 1959-1960. While I'm sure the food was good, the real reason I ate there was the view and ambiance.
ReplyDeleteOne of the foods from Taiwan that stands out it my memory is the ice cream at the dining room in the Park Hotel in downtown Taipei. It was just plain vanilla, but it had a very unique taste.
